Serving Size: 8-10 people
Ingredients:
- 1 28 oz can of tomatoes (whole or crushed) preferably San Marzano
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
- 1 tbsp of Richmond Table Italian Herb Blend
- 2 tsp of Richmond Table Timeless Trio
Directions:
- Add EVOO and Timeless Trio Seasoning into a medium saucepan and turn on medium heat.
- Cook for around 1 to 2 minutes to allow the garlic to flavor the oil. Be sure not the burn the garlic. Once you smell the aromas of the seasoning move on to step 3 before there’s any chance of burning your garlic or oil.
- Add in the 28 ounce can of tomatoes. If using canned whole tomatoes, crushed them in your hands before placing in the saucepan.
- Add in the Italian Herb Blend and turn heat to high.
- Bring to a boil then immediately reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove from pot and let cool before applying to pizza.

Even though it seems odd to lightly cook your Timeless Trio Seasoning, it’s adding that flavor into your base of extra virgin olive oil. You’ll get the seasoning from the salt and all the savory notes from our California grown garlic and Vietnamese pepper without overwhelming the sauce with those flavors. I can’t emphasize enough that you must not burn the seasoning. Always add the tomatoes in before it starts turning brown. Since you’re just turning on your heat, it shouldn’t burn too quickly. You can add your tomatoes once you smell the aromas being released by the heat.
For tomatoes, San Marzano is the best option. You can use any can of tomatoes, but San Marzano is a must if you’re after the best tasting authentic Italian pizza sauce flavor. These tomatoes are perfectly built for creating the best pizza sauce. With the flavor component, they have mild acidity and a sweet flavor. With the physical component, they have thicker walls and less seeds. Combining those two components gives you the best tomato for your pizza sauce.
